Editors use many different styles to correct grammar and punctuation, and these styles can vary greatly from each other. Style preferences vary often from person to person, or from occupation to occupation.

For example, journalists prefer to use the minimalist Associated Press (AP) style. It uses fewer punctuation and capital letters than other styles. Teachers usually ask for Modern Language Association (MLA) style or American Psychological Association (APA) style, both of which are widely accepted styles for research papers. Some people prefer to use the Chicago Manual of Style (usually referred to as Chicago).

I am most comfortable with the Chicago style, but (if preferred) I can switch to any of the other styles listed below.
